Minneapolis—July 9, 2007— Walden University, an accredited online institution with 37 years of experience providing graduate-level education, has announced that it has expanded its program of need-based scholarships to now include many master's programs and its post-doctoral program in addition to its scholarships for doctoral programs. These scholarships are an extension of offerings launched earlier this year, and are the result of Walden’s desire to increase the number of practicing scholars who will solve problems in their professions and directly implement solutions to important social issues.

We are pleased to be able to encourage and support a broad range of graduate students at Walden,” said Jonathan A. Kaplan, JD, interim president of Walden University. “The students who are awarded these scholarships are passionate about their goals to use higher education to make a difference in their professions and communities, and we look forward to seeing the impact that their work will have in creating positive social change in our world.”

The Walden University Master’s Studies Scholarship will provide $2,000 per award year to new students who meet financial need criteria and enroll in the Master of Public Administration, Master of Public Health, MS in Mental Health Counseling, MS in Psychology, or MS degree in Nursing programs.
