Minneapolis—July 6, 2005— Walden University has announced the completion of a merger with National Technological University (NTU), an institution with a two-decade history as the premier provider of graduate-level education to both engineers and computer professionals. NTU is now the fifth school within Walden University and is officially known as the NTU School of Engineering and Applied Science at Walden University.

“This merger shows that Walden University has grown in stature and in scope as it expands its mission to embrace the engineering profession,” said Walden University President and Provost Paula E. Peinovich, PhD. “The engineering profession strives to make the world a safer place, allowing Walden to carry out its mission of positive social change even more effectively with the addition of the NTU School of Engineering and Applied Science. Both Walden and NTU are leaders in the field of distance education, and the merger will allow NTU to leverage Walden’s resources to offer exciting new programs and services to engineering students.”

The NTU School, which began its first term at Walden University on May 2, 2005, offers the following master’s degree programs:

  • High-Tech MBA
  • Engineering Management
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering
  • Systems Engineering

The NTU School at Walden University will continue its philosophy of obtaining world-class scholars from universities like MIT, UC-Berkeley, Purdue and others to lead its courses. Walden University is now investing significant resources to pair these exceptional scholars with course development experts and state-of-the-art multimedia technology to produce courses of unparalleled quality. The NTU School, like each of the schools at Walden, follows a practical curriculum-development model so that its courses are in step with the evolving needs of the workplace.

Walden University will now provide the courses on Video CD free of charge as a study aid to any student who is currently taking an NTU School course. Students will also have access to a wide variety of services currently available to Walden students, including a research center, an online library, a writing center, an alumni association, and federal financial aid through subsidized and unsubsidized student loans.
