Dr. Lee Ann Walker.
NAME: Dr. Lee Ann Walker ’12
TITLE BEFORE MY DEGREE: Senior Marketing Planner
TITLE AFTER MY DEGREE: Academic program manager for the MBA in Marketing program at Post University in Waterbury, Connecticut
HOW I MADE THE SWITCH: For 15 years, I worked as a graphic designer, then as a marketing specialist and planner. During my first year as a DBA student, I spoke at a residency about my Scholars of Change video. A colleague approached me afterward about bringing my passion for social change to the school she worked for. When I graduated, I began working as an adjunct at five schools, including Post—all at the same time—before Post recruited me for this full-time position.
HOW WALDEN PREPARED ME: Walden armed me with many skills, especially the ability to conduct research. I have become the go-to person in my academic community when colleagues need information. My new position takes everything the DBA stands for and brings it to life.
HOW WALDEN SHAPED THE WAY I TEACH:
I blend my own passion for sharing knowledge with what I learned from working with professors, like Dr. Denise Land. She made me feel like I was her only student and responded to emails quickly, whether it was 6 a.m. or 9 p.m. I do the same with my students. Getting them information quickly means they can continue their work with confidence.
