Martha-CheneyDr. Martha Cheney specializes in early childhood education.

Dr. Cheney is the program director for the Teacher Preparation Program with a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) with a specialization in Early Childhood Education (Birth–Grade 3) program in The Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership. Before assuming this role, she taught courses in Walden’s MS in Education program and served as an adjunct professor in the University of Montana, Missoula’s school of education. Earlier in her career, she taught preschool through fifth grade in the Los Angeles Unified School District and preschool in Woodland Hills, Calif. Dr. Cheney began her career as a writer in educational publishing. She serves on the editorial advisory board for Teaching Young Children, a professional journal of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and also serves as specialty professional association (SPA) program reviewer for NAEYC.
