Program evaluation and performance improvement, career counseling and development, disability rehabilitation, therapeutic alliance dynamics, psychological sense of community, forgiveness/atonement, myth and metaphor in counseling


Since 1996, Dr. Blum has provided consultation to various behavioral healthcare programs, organizations, and state governments across the United States. He has provided outpatient and inpatient mental health counseling, crisis intervention, rehabilitation counseling, and career counseling. For nearly a decade, he had a private counseling practice, and for 7 years he was a surveyor for The Joint Commission. For more than 20 years, Dr. Blum has taught undergraduate through doctoral-level human services and counseling courses at both traditional and online universities. He has published a number of peer-reviewed articles and remains active in local and national professional organizations. Dr. Blum became a contributing faculty member in Walden’s MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in 2011 and a core faculty member in 2013.
