Dr. Dawson moved to Vashon in 2002 from southwestern Virginia, where she was a faculty member in Virginia Tech’s College of Human Resources and Education for four years and where she taught in and directed various preK–12 programs, mostly at independent alternative community schools, for more than 20 years. As a Walden faculty member, she serves doctoral students in education. She is also an associate academic dean and core faculty member for Antioch University’s Seattle campus. Dr. Dawson is an advisory board member for the National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools. She enjoys helping students think through the inquiry process.
