Walden University Ranked a Top Producer of Master’s and Doctorate Minority Graduates by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education

Minneapolis—August 20, 2007—Walden University, an accredited online institution with a significant and growing multicultural student body, continues its proud tradition of providing diversity and access for adult learners. According to the publication Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, Walden University ranks high on the list across numerous multicultural segments and degree programs.
In its 2007 Top Graduate Degree Producers analysis, Diverse ranked Walden a top producer of master’s and doctorate minority graduates in the following disciplines:
- Education – Total Minority (No. 5)
- Education – African-American (No. 6)
- Education – Native American (No. 6)
- Education – Asian-American (No. 7)
- Education – Hispanic (No. 8)
- Business – African-American (No. 2)
- Psychology – African-American (No. 3)
- Business – Total Minority (No. 5)
The analysis considered graduate degrees awarded during the 2005–2006 academic year and is based on data from the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Integrated Postsecondary Education Data Set (IPEDS).
According to the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics, the number of doctoral degrees awarded annually will reach nearly 50,000 in 2012. Walden continues to expand doctoral and master’s degree opportunities for those historically underrepresented in higher education and addresses specific needs of the helping professions by developing first-rate programs and specializations.
