Valerie has been a good listener since she was very young. She is genuinely interested in people, in learning their stories and helping them meet their goals, and she is able to make connections and identify patterns that can provide individuals with additional insight. Throughout the years, she has had numerous opportunities to do so as an educational psychologist, instructional designer, adjunct faculty member, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitor and coach, author, and teacher. This is because when people step outside their comfort zones, as they often must to learn something new, they may need time and space to process. In other words, they may need perspective and support as they integrate new learning and new insights.

After many years of coaching students, athletes, and academic and business colleagues, she became a board-certified coach (BCC), an associated certified coach (ACC), and a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC). This was the next logical step in her commitment to supporting others in their pursuit of fulfilling lives, bringing additional theory and best practice to her efforts.
