Dr. Aguirre is an Senior Contributing Faculty member for Walden University. She holds a PhD in nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Aguirre's primary field of research is obesity. She has taught Leadership, Policy, Community Health, Evidence-Based Practice and Gerontology courses for 10 years and has taught graduate students in research courses for 5 years. Prior to teaching she worked primarily with older adults in home health settings and nursing homes. She resides in the rural Nebraska community of Mitchell. In addition to her love of teaching and learning with and from students and fellow nurses, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Albert and their 6 children and 8 grandchildren. Her hobbies include hiking, fishing and camping
