Dr. Steve Canipe’s formal training is in biology and educational leadership where he has served in various roles over his 40+ year career. Dr. Canipe served as a faculty at the high school, college, and university levels. He then moved to higher education positions related to principal leadership, curriculum design, and assessment at online schools. At Walden University, he serves as committee member for the dissertations at the EdD and PhD levels. Dr. Canipe’s current research interests focus primarily on cultural issues related to achievement particularly in the areas traditionally called STEM. He has presented at numerous conferences including the National Science Teachers Association and Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Dr. Canipe has published several peer reviewed articles. He was recognized in 1992 at his induction into the Order of the Long Leaf Pine for seminal work in tech prep in NC. He was named an Emeritus Professor by Walden in 2017. He currently is the Associate Dean, School of Education and Professional Licensure.
