Dr. Sreeroopa Sarkar has been working at Walden for more than twelve years. She has served in the capacity of Program Director/Faculty Chair for MS Programs in Psychology, Program Director for MS & PhD programs in Developmental Psychology, Interim Director of PhD program in General Psychology, and interim Program Director of MS programs in Forensic Psychology at Walden University. She has received her doctoral degree in Educational Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. Before coming to Walden, Dr. Sarkar was an adjunct faculty at the University at Albany, and held a joint appointment there as the Assistant Director of Graduate Studies. Her areas of interest include mental health promotion within school setting, cross-cultural and international research studies related to mental health and gender issues, and human development. She has presented extensively at national and international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Sarkar has conducted research on mental health promotion among school children in India and Sri Lanka, and on sexual aggression against women in India. She has also developed and implemented life skills training programs for school children and female domestic workers and laborers in India.
