Dr. Sharon Catledge is a certified family nurse practitioner at The University of Southern Mississippi. She will be part of the MSN Core team at Walden University. Dr. Catledge has previously taught undergraduate nursing and part-time in the FNP Masters degree program.
Dr. Catledge graduated with an Associates Degree in Nursing from Itawamba Junior College in Fulton, Mississippi in 1989. Obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi. Received a Masters of Science of Nursing Education at University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama and a Post Masters of Family Nurse Practitioner at Mississippi University for Women in Columbus, Mississippi. She earned a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2014. Dr. Catledge is a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society and Gamma Beta Phi honor Society.
Her capstone research for Masters degree was on health disparities in African Americans. Her doctoral capstone research project was on Human Papilloma Virus.
Two different Governors appointed Dr. Catledge to the serve on the Mississippi State Board of Nursing. Hence, she served on the Board for 8 years. During the 8 years she held all of executive positions and presided as president for three consecutive years. Dr. Catledge is a member of the Mississippi Nurse Association, Mississippi Association of Nurse Practitioners, Eliza Pillars Registered Nurse Association, and American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Dr. Catledge was recently nominated as Nurse Distinction of the Year. She is a member of a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
Dr. Catledge is a proud mother of two daughters, one son, and a Cavalier King Charles. She currently resides of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
