Dr. Gfeller graduated with a forensic psychology PhD in 2013 from the California School of Forensic Studies with an emphasis in psychology, policy, and law. Since graduating, he has been working with the Sierra Education and Research Institute in Fresno California providing psychological services to the forensic population in Fresno County. He also trains student interns from a variety of education levels and backgrounds to perform psychological services to the same population, particularly assessing for criminogenic needs. Dr. Gfeller has been teaching graduate level students for the past 6 years in the forensic psychology realm as well as clinical counseling. He particularly likes to teach research methods and statistics. Dissertations are also enjoyable for Dr. Gfeller and he is on as many as two dozen committees at any given time.
Dr. Gfeller is a past member of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and is a current member of the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology. Before entering his own doctoral school, he achieved his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with an emphasis on organismic biology. During his undergraduate career he was a veterinary technician and technical supervisor for an emergency and specialty hospital in Fresno California.
