Dr. Robert G. Sherman (bio)
Dr. Sherman has expertise in financial management, economic analysis and global business operations. He earned a Masters in International Management (MIM) from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management as well as an MBA and PhD from Arizona State University. He specialized in Finance with minors in Economics and Global Business. Dr. Sherman has successfully utilized his expertise in academia, government and the private sector. He has worked with the World Bank, the IMF, African Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme (Africa Bureau) as well as the US Departments of Commerce & State on issues related to Private Sector development in Africa. He is the current President & CEO of the AMI Group, a Phoenix based consulting firm that promotes trade and investment linkages between Africa and the Unites States. Dr. Sherman has served as Assistant Minister of Finance for Banking for the Republic of Liberia. In this capacity he developed and implemented strategies that improve the country’s financial system. Dr. Sherman truly believes in the concept of a Global Village, i.e, all of us live in the same village; thus, we should interact to promote and ensure our mutual welfare. In this context, he has assumed leadership roles in organizing major events that have brought African and Americans together, particularly Arizonans. He has assisted with the resettlement of African refugees in Arizona. Because of his robust community activities, Dr. Sherman has won numerous awards including the prestigious Martin Luther King Jr. “2014 Living the Dream Award” presented by the City of Phoenix on January 17, 2014. Dr. Sherman has also won numerous academic awards. He is married with two kids.
