Dr. Rebecca Stout earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology and biology/premedical studies from Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, IA. Her master’s degree is in sociology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership from Argosy University. Prior to working in higher education, Dr. Stout served as a program director for Learning for Life, a nonprofit organization in Denver, CO. She then moved over to working in higher education for various universities, teaching sociology and related fields. At Walden University, she teaches the HUMN6660 capstone class and quantitative methods class. She has also taught theory of research and leadership.
Dr. Stout’s research interest has primarily been in burnout. She has presented and published on burnout among online college instructors, most recently presenting at the Online Learning Consortium – Accelerate in Orlando, FL. She was recently featured in EdSurge for her work on burnout.
