Rebecca McLean joined Walden University in 2019 as a Contributing Faculty Member in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and teaching in both the master's and doctoral counseling programs. She is also currently a Professor in the Department of Counselor Education at Western Illinois University - Quad Cities and served as the departmental Chairperson from January 2011- July 2014 and is currently the back-up CSI faculty advisor. Prior to this, she was on faculty at the University of Arkansas for almost a decade. Dr. McLean received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Education degree in Community Counseling from Kent State University. She received her Ph.D. in Guidance and Counseling with a specialization in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Akron. Dr. McLean began working in the mental health field in 1988 and counseled clients in a variety of settings including an outpatient community mental health center for adults with severe emotional disabilities, two university counseling and development centers, two parochial family service agencies, and in private practice. Additionally, she worked as an Emergency Clinician for a County Psychiatric Emergency Services and volunteered with the American Red Cross Disaster Services Unit. Dr. McLean has an extensive teaching, research, and service record. Dr. McLean is a site-visit team member for the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and has over two decades of CACREP-related activities. She served as the 2014 AARC National Assessment & Research Conference Chair and was Editor of Counseling Outcome Research & Evaluation (CORE) from 2013-2017. Professional organizations include the American Counseling Association, American Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, American Association for Creativity in Counseling, North Central Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, and Chi Sigma Iota. She is the 2017 recipient of the NCACES Deanna Hawes Outstanding Mentor Award and served as the NCACES Member-at-Large 2019-2020. She is currently the co-faculty advisor for the Chi Sigma Iota Xi chapter.
