Dr. Mattis is currently the Director of Healthcare and Nursing Initiatives. He has been an associate dean and professor, director for technology integration, Project Manager, Senior Systems Analyst, programmer Analyst, Senior Software Quality Management Consultant, Implementation consultant, Software Engineer, Professor of Graduate Studies and registered nurse.
His industry experience includes finance, banking, insurance, pharmaceutical, nursing, healthcare, consulting and education. His healthcare/nursing informatics experience includes Surgical Services IS Project Leader/Systems Administrator, Surgical Services IS Educator, Clinical Informatics Consultant, Quality and Performance Improvement Consultant and Information Systems Consultant to (Catheterization Lab, Interventional Radiology and MRI).
In addition to his doctoral education, evidence-based practice, and informatics experience he has performed direct patient care in the following areas medical-surgical units, transplant institute, oncology, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, ICUs and CCU. Dr. Mattis has taught various informatics and evidence-based practice courses at the undergraduate and graduate (master and doctoral) level.
He holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice with specialization in informatics and education from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, double masters in Computer Science and Nursing Informatics and joined Walden University as a part time faculty in the College of Health Sciences, School of Nursing.
