Dr. N. K. Swain has over twenty five years of academic experience in teaching various computer and engineering related graduate and undergraduate courses. He is currently working as a Professor of Computer Science and Interim Chair of Mathematics and Computer Science Department at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Dr. Swain holds a Ph.D degree in Engineering. He also has an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, M.Sc. in Engineering and Technology and B.Sc. in Engineering.
Dr. Swain has published a number of articles (60+) in peer-refereed conferences and journals in the areas of Engineering, Management, and Computer Information Systems. He is a peer reviewer for American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), Conference for Information Technology (CIT), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Computer Magazine, International Journal of Applied Management and Technology (IJAMT), Frontiers in Education (FIE), International Journal of Modern Engineering (IJME), INTERTECH, Biotechnology and Applied Biochemistry (Portland Press), International Association of Journals and Conferences (IJAC), Journal of Engineering Technology (JET), and external reviewer for doctoral dissertations from universities abroad. He is a registered professional engineer (PE) in South Carolina. He has also procured research and development grants from the National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD), NASA, SC Department of Transportation (SC DOT), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and others. He is a senior member of IEEE, and member of ACM, ASEE, Computer Society, and SIGITE. He has reviewed books on Information Systems, TCP/IP, Wireless Networks, Microprocessors, and Sensor Networks. Dr. Swain is a program evaluator for Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission for Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ETAC/ABET). In addition, he is a Faculty Evaluator for American Council on Education conducting Military Course Evaluations. Dr. Swain enjoys teaching and mentoring young adults to inculcate the values of higher education.
