B.S. Nursing (BSN)

Dr. Merilyn Long earned her doctoral degree in Clinical Health Sciences from the University of Mississippi, and BSN and MSN (Clinical Nurse Specialist) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She has been actively practicing as an RN for fifty one years. Her long career has spanned a variety of practice venues including clinical, administrative, research and academic areas of nursing including DNP, graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition, she served in the U.S. Army as active and reserve duty for 10 years with a Captain Rank. In addition, she worked and traveled in the Middle East and Europe for a couple of years. Presently, she is retired from full time service and serves as a senior contributing faculty for the BSN program at Walden University, College of Nursing. Her clinical focus is cardiovascular and renal nursing, while her academic focus is related to advanced pathophysiology, curriculum development, statistical analysis and research methodology.
