Megan J. Shelton received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice on the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner track from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN in 2019. She has worked as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since August 2019 providing holistic psychiatric care to patients in acute inpatient and outpatient settings, working closely with those with serious and persistent mental illness. Dr. Shelton began as a contributing faculty member in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Walden University in Fall 2020. Dr. Shelton has a special interest in serving in underserved rural areas, community mental health and correctional health. Dr. Shelton extensively researched ways to address inmate mental health in correctional health settings through the creation and use of a community referral pathway for inmates with a positive mental health screen for her Doctoral Project.
