Matthew Walker is a photographer and educator based in Rochester, NY. For over a decade Matt has been cultivating an interdisciplinary professional practice in the arts and humanities. Matt's professional experience includes several years on the faculty of Visual Studies Workshop teaching in the M.F.A. Visual Studies program, and more than a decade as a lecturer leading courses in history, methodology, and perspectives at a diverse set of regional institutions of higher education. In addition to VSW and Walden University, Matt has also been teaching photography and history in higher education for the past fifteen years.
Matt holds an M.F.A. in Visual Studies from Visual Studies Workshop, an M.A. in History, and a B.A. in Communications Studies. Matt's photo books Iroquoia (2007) and Recollection (2011), are published by Visual Studies Workshop Press, and current projects are ongoing and in development. Matt maintains an open and engaged studio and accepts freelance opportunities and photography commissions, as well as providing project planning, consulting, and research on-demand to complement his pursuits within higher education.
