Dr. Hallums retired from 37 years in public school education in June of 2011. More than 30 years were spent as a school and district level administrator in various positions including five years working as the director of an incentive program administering evaluations for principals and teachers for ten school districts. While serving for the past 20 years as a Title I Director, the last 12 years were spent implementing comprehensive reform initiatives in schools needing improvement. In May, 2011, the South Carolina General Assembly adopted a Senate Resolution honoring her achievements in education. Having presented at state and national conferences, she continues to conduct workshops and training sessions focusing upon reform strategies in school districts in several states.
