Martha J. Larkin is the Assessment Director of Teacher Licensure Programs in the Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership at Walden University. She works to implement ePortfolios for the assessment and accreditation of educator preparation programs. She is a Knowledge Ambassador for Watermark. Prior to coming to Walden, Martha taught Special Education courses at the University of West Georgia and the College of William and Mary and has worked in Higher Education since 1996. She received her PhD in special education from the University of Alabama and has over 10 years of experience teaching home economics and special education in public schools. Her current research focus is on assessment system maturity, data visualization and presentation, and data-informed decision making. She has published and presented broadly in the areas of assessment, special education pedagogy, and reading. Her recent presentations focused on developing an instrument to measure assessment system maturity and incorporating technology into data visualization. Martha has been engaged in collaborative research and presenting with George Larkin in data visualization since 2015. Martha and George were invited to author an article titled, Achieving Excellence in Data Visualization, that was published in the December 2017 National Institute for Learning Outcomes Assessment (NILOA) Newsletter.
