Dr. Rangel holds a MD degree from the University of Panama, School of Medicine, a Masters of Public Health from the University of South Florida, and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her area of specialization is infectious diseases epidemiology. She worked for 14 years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta until 2010, when she took a Research Director position at a pharmaceutical company in Brazil. She is currently teaching and mentoring doctoral students at Walden University and doing freelance consulting. Although Dr. Rangel’s main areas of interest are vaccine preventable diseases and HIV, she has more than 20 years of cumulative experience providing technical assistance and consultation in other infectious diseases, as well as in chronic diseases and teaching short courses for health professionals.
