Dr. Mamie Futrell
Dr. Mamie Futrell’s formal training is in Social Work where she has served in various roles over her career. Dr. Futrell served as a clinician working with families and children to increase their resilience and family cohesion. Shortly after, Dr. Futrell served as a hospital Social Worker where she assisted in the establishment of a newly funded position that focused on areas such as domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault and elder abuse. She then served as a Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program Manager for the United States Air Force, part of the Department of Defense. Eventually she moved to higher education positions within masters level social work programs. At Walden University, she teaches in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Futrell has experience in research and has conducted various research studies in a variety of topics. Dr. Futrell has served on different board of directors to help advocate for different causes and promote professional ethics within the field of social work.
