Lisa M. Kangas, Ph.D., has served in various higher education leadership roles, taught undergraduate and graduate courses, and mentored students and faculty for over 20 years. Dr. Kangas served in various leadership capacities, including Director for Academic Affairs, managing over 200 faculty and 2000+ students in 8 programs at three campuses. In addition, she is a higher education consultant with over 12 years of consulting experience and more than 20 years of business experience, working for several Fortune 100 companies and her family-owned businesses while growing up.

At Walden University, Dr. Kangas is a senior core faculty who mentors and teaches doctorate students in the DBA program. In previous faculty consulting and leadership positions, she was a former supervisor to contributing faculty, whom she mentored and trained, and assigned chair and mentor assignments. She currently mentors and teaches Doctoral Study Mentoring, Doctoral Study Completion, Strategic Management for Competitive Advantage, Organization Leadership Doc Theory Practices, Seminar in Change Management, and Seminar in Innovation Management courses. Dr. Kangas also teaches residencies, intensives, and capstone courses. Dr. Kangas serves as a chair and second committee member on numerous doctoral student research committees.

Dr. Kangas currently serves on the EDGE Leadership Committee, as the Interim Chair for the EDGE Research and Analytics Committee and Affinity Research Project Committee, University Committee and Academic Policy Governance Committee, Artificial Intelligence Taskforce, and formerly on the Center for Social Change Advisory Council, the Center for Learning Innovation Advisory Council, DBA Curriculum and Program (CAP) Committee, Petitions Committee, as well as numerous other committees and advisory councils.

Dr. Kangas's research interests include positive social change and sustainability development goals, innovation, emerging trends in higher education, change management, and innovations and emerging technologies. She presents at various higher education conferences and publishes articles regularly on these topics. In addition, she recently wrote a micro-course on Be a Better Leader: Appreciate Inquiry.
