Dr. Linda Mast has been with Walden University’s College of Health Sciences since May 2014 and serves at the Program Director for the MHA Competency Based Education Program and Interim Program Director for the MHA traditional course-based program. She holds a BSN from the University of Maryland, an MBA with a health care concentration from Western New England University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Linda has an appointment to the Walden University Competency Based Education Advisory Council, and she has been actively involved in the development of the MHA Competency Based program as a Subject Matter Expert and academic champion for program content. She has presented at conferences on topics related to competency-based education and is currently the principal investigator for a funded pilot study on self-directed learning among graduate students in competency-based education programs.
Linda is an army veteran with over 20 years of management and executive administrative experience including the military, medical group practice, academic medical centers, ambulatory surgery, community hospitals, and long-term care facilities. Prior to transitioning to full time college teaching, she was the Chief Compliance Officer for the University of Chicago Health System and was appointed to the advisory board to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Mast was the principal investigator for funded research projects on interprofessional care protocols and has published peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters on a variety of healthcare topics and online learning. She is a frequently invited speaker on health policy and interprofessional collaboration. Dr. Mast has developed curriculum and taught a variety of graduate and undergraduate leadership and management courses in both traditional classroom and online learning modes. She is a board-certified Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives.
Dr. Mast has served as an appointed commissioner on the Plan Commission for the Village of Woodridge, Illinois from 2009-2018 and has relocated to Prescott Valley, Arizona in 2018.
