Dr. Genia Wetsel DNP, MBA, RN, CENP, NEA-BC is a contributing faculty member in the School of Nursing DNP/Ph.D. program. Genia holds certifications as a Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certified (NEA-BC) and the Certification in Executive Nurse Practice (CENP). She is a member of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders (AONL), Texas Organization of Nurse Executives (TONE), American Nurses Association (ANA), Texas Nurses Association (TNA), Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. Genia’s primary area of research is the value interim executive nursing leaders can bring to an organization, especially when experiencing a gap in chief nursing officer leadership. Genia has presented her research at national conferences including the Association for Leadership Science in Nursing and National Doctors of Nursing Practice conference and is published in the AONL nursing journal, Nurse Leader. Her clinical background includes roles in cardiac intensive care, emergency room, and interventional radiology. Genia is passionate about identifying system problems, building teams, improving quality outcomes, and creating environments that optimize the patient experience. She serves on multiple committees that review areas of quality initiatives, practice standards, and nursing education.
