Dr. Lahna Tate has been a professor here at Walden for over 10 years and an educator for over 27 years. She began her career in Chicago, where she was born and raised. She taught in Chicago for 10 years, and she often reminisces about the great times with her students and co-workers. In Chicago, her professional experiences include teaching regular and special education classes from kindergarten to eighth grade. She relocated to Tampa, Florida and had the opportunity to teach in all socio-economic levels, where she gained a wealth of knowledge. Dr. Tate was a sixth grade middle school teacher, a high school Reading Coach, a Behavior Specialist, and an Assistant Principal at an inner city school. Dr. Tate has a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education (EMH) with a minor in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Special Education (LD), a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate is in Organizational Leadership. As you can clearly see, she believe in lifelong learning. In the near future she plans to complete a Specialist Degree in Reading.
