Dr. Slagle earned her doctorate in nursing practice from Case Western Reserve University. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing in Nursing Education from Walden University in December 2010. Professor Slagle has been teaching nursing at the ADN, BSN and MSN levels since 2006 in the face-to-face classroom, clinical experience in the hospital setting, online and also hybrid classes. Prior to coming into academia, Professor Slagle was a medical surgical nurse on post open heart unit and then ortho/neuro surgical floors for several years. Professor Slagle states that nursing is her second life as she states that before coming into nursing and nursing education she was a military wife for over 20 years. Professor Slagle states she sincerely loves the military way of life, loves to travel and experience new places and cultures. In the past, Professor Slagle has taken nursing students to Kolkata, India, and Haiti and states she is open to doing medical missions any place. She has also participated in numerous volunteer opportunities with nursing students at special Olympics, flu shot clinics, tornado disaster relief, hurricane disaster relief and a variety of other events. Professor Slagle is coming to Walden University as contributing nursing faculty in the MSN department.
