Kimberley D. Mercer, Ph.D., LCSW, MSW is a 30-year career professional in the field of clinical social work practice. Dr. Mercer holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Human Services from Capella University. In 1992, she became licensed by the Virginia Board of Health Professional (Board of Social Work) as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). In 2018, she became trained in Trauma-Focus Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Dr. Mercer is an independent contractor for clinical services. Dr. Mercer is a skilled clinician, program administrator, and entrepreneur. For the past 20 years, Dr. Mercer has been managing therapeutic programs and services for children, youth and families. Also, during these years, she has supervised master level social work student internships and provided clinical supervision to individual seeking LCSW licensure in the state of Virginia. Dr. Mercer works diligently in assisting students in transitioning theory to practice during their field experience. Currently, Dr. Mercer is a Clinical Practice and Education Specialist for Mental Health Service Line at Children’s Hospital of The Kings Daughters. Her primary focus is clinical education and student training. She is also a Contributing Instructor in the College of Social and Behavioral Science at Walden University.
