Dr. Kat McNeil’s formal training in nursing is in advanced practice with specialties in both Family Practice and Psychiatric Mental Health. She has served in various roles across both specialties in her 20+ year career with a large focus on psychiatric care since 2009. In mental health care, Dr. McNeil has significant experience working with people in behavioral crisis.
Dr. McNeil began working in the academic field in 2013 as supervising faculty over clinical settings for both Family Nurse Practitioner students and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner students. She then moved into didactic teaching within both specialties.
Dr. McNeil has served on several doctoral student project committees. She has a research interest in resilience, compassion fatigue, and self-care in nurses. Dr. McNeil has presented at conferences including a poster and podium presentations. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and Sigma Theta Tau.
