Karen Gil is the Scientific Director of Summa Health, Akron OH. She received her Ph.D. in physiological psychology at the University of Massachusetts, studying peripheral metabolism. She studied metabolism during trauma as a post-doctoral fellow at Columbia in New York City. She received a certificate in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, supporting her transition to a clinical outcomes researcher. Her recent work is in quality of life in women with gynecologic malignancies, in part as a 14 year member of an NCI funded Cancer Cooperative Group that designs clinical trials for people with cancer. She is an author of 48 peer reviewed publications, and over 70 chapters, reviews and national presentations.
