Dr. Shoemaker has worked for Walden University as a course professor, qualitative methodologist, committee member, and dissertation chair since 2008. She has a wide variety of interests in special education, arts integration, multiple intelligences, and math achievement. She lives in Winter Haven, FL and is very active with Therapy Dogs International as well as providing pet therapy to hospice patients in local assisted living and memory care facilities. She taught middle school special education for more than 13 years and has extensive experience in choral conducting, voice performance and coaching, and musical theater. She is a member of Council for Exceptional Children, Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity, and AERA.
