Dr. Rizzo earned his PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from The University of Akron. He has been licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory endorsement (PCC-S) in Ohio since 1999. He has practiced in community mental health, private practice, and in residential treatment for youth. He has taught at Walden University since 2014 in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program.
His teaching, professional, and research interests include: counseling adults, adolescents and children; trauma; chronic pain; counselor preparation and supervision; and performance & quality improvement.
