Dr. Elkins holds a PhD in Health Services Research from Texas A&M University in addition to a DPT from Northeastern University. She has advised more than 100 Capstone projects for DPT students at Northeastern University since 2014. Her primary role at Walden is dissertation advisor/mentor. Her research interests are in evidence-based medical care and in frailty in caregivers. In addition she is involved in research in a faith-based community based project in northeastern Georgia to improve health for historically underserved populations. Dr. Elkins served 3 years as an Advanced Fellow in Geriatrics at the Birmingham/Atlanta VA Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Care Center in Atlanta Georgia.
