Dr. Janie Mayo is a Contributing Faculty member at Walden University and is approved to teach didactic courses in addition to doctoral mentoring courses for the College of Management and Technology. Dr. Mayo serves on several committees as Chair, Second Committee Member, or as the University Research Reviewer. She enjoys paving a way to academic excellence, interacting with students, and teaching core concepts leading to further investigation. She is a member of Delta Mu Delta, the Golden Key Honour Society, Society of Professional Consultants, International Leadership Association, and Professional Editors Network (PEN).
Dr. Mayo has disseminated the findings of her doctoral study, Tribal Gaming Leaders toward a Sustainable Future through submission of peer-reviewed articles, a research symposium, multiple speaking engagements, a peer-reviewed chapter in the Refractive Thinker entitled Native American Women in Leadership Working toward a Sustainable Future. Her study has provided her the opportunity to gain professional and academic expertise to facilitate improvements in the small and medium-sized businesses. She has published works in the American Indian Quarterly and The Qualitative Report.
Dr. Janie Mayo resides in Neosho, MO. She contributes to positive social change through her work as a master gardener and is a board member for the Ozark Gateway Regional Master Gardeners chapter of the Missouri University extension. The volunteer effort is to provide education, leadership, training, and support for the Jasper County community. Workshops, speaker’s bureaus, and demonstration projects allow Master Gardeners to provide education each year in person or through helplines. Additionally, her master gardening team provides thousands of pounds of produce to nonprofit organizations to feed families who have been identified as food insecure. She spent countless hours in 2018 and 2019 training two pet therapy dogs for a disadvantaged youth. In her spare time, she and her husband own and manage short term rental properties.
