I am a seasoned educator with experiences in graduate and undergraduate nursing and health sciences. Areas of educational expertise include advanced patho-physiology, nursing research & ethics, leadership, spiritual/cultural nursing and courses/program development/evaluation. Graduate teaching experiences with clinical nurse specialist, educator, MSN/MBA tracts, the development of a family nurse practitioner tract; preceptor/mentor for doctoral students clinical and capstone projects. Undergraduate teaching experiences include traditional nursing entry to practice and RN to BSN programs. . I established a Post Baccalaureate Registered Nurse Residency Programs and coordinated CCNE accreditation efforts for the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center Residency Programs. I am a strong ED nursing leader with experiences in variety of settings from community to academic medical centers; serving both adult and pediatric patient populations. I have extensive experience is establishing strong community partnerships, promoting health care promotion, injury prevent, prehospital services, customer service/service recovery, and disaster management. I am active member of Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), NOVA, Sigma Theta Tau, and NLN. My strengths include promoting a Center of Excellence in Emergency Services with focus on standards of care, staff satisfaction, patient satisfaction, financial best practices, promoting of community partnerships through injury prevention & health promotion programs. Facilitating team success to achieve departmental, organizational, and community strategic initiatives in a timely fashion is a finite balance between academia and practice expertise. I am a Nurse Emeritus with Chapter 196, Iowa City, IA VA Healthcare System. She was RN III and Director of Nurse Residency Programs for James H. Quillan VA Medical Center.
