Dr. White earned her Ph.D. in Human Services/Gerontology. Her MLS is in Liberal Arts/Gerontology, and her BS is in Liberal Arts/Human Services. She has been teaching adults for twelve years, nine in virtual university settings. She is active on ResearchGate and is an editorial board member for four scholarly journals. Dr. White earned an intergenerational certification from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. White is a Certified Senior Advisor and has taken advanced aging and mental health courses at Harvard University and the University of Wisconsin.
Dr. White teaches courses in gerontology, doctoral research, and human services but her specialty is gerontology. What is that? Gerontology is the of biopsychosocial study aging over the lifespan. Within university settings, she is also a dissertation chair, subject matter expert, and qualitative methods expert. Since 2003, Dr. White has owned a part-time geriatric consulting firm in Alabama. She has been presenting aging topics on live television for 15 years. Her background is diverse. She was a military wife for over twenty years. During that time, she did a lot of relocating and global traveling and had numerous assorted professions and volunteer opportunities. Some of her previous work included couture sewing instructor, fashion model, human resources director, corporate vice president, alterations and custom sewing business owner, fiber artist, and community activist. Her hobbies are sewing, fishing, writing two novels, power walking, and volunteering in the community.
She and her husband reside in North Alabama and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Their three sons live in Georgia, Missouri, and Belize. So you see, she is still traveling!
