College of Social and Behavioral Sciences
I am a contributing faculty member in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences in the School of Counseling at Walden University. I completed my Ph.D. in counselor education from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in May 2014, and have taught in counselor preparation programs since 2014. I am a licensed professional counselor-supervisor in Texas, and I’ve been a licensed counselor since 2011. I have a number of counseling experiences with individuals, couples, and families. I have worked in community mental health treatment centers and I have provided counseling services using cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative therapy to children, adolescents, and families. I have also provided counseling to adults in the justice system. In addition to these work experiences, I have provided mental health services to youth in juvenile justice centers. I currently have a counseling private practice where I contract part-time with a community mental health agency and I provide counseling services to youth, adolescents, and families. I also supervise LPC-interns in Texas. Based on my experiences working with diverse populations, I am passionate about conducting research in the following areas: outcome-based research, program evaluation, treatment effectiveness, and instrument validation.
