Dr. Keyes has been in the nursing profession at various levels for over thirty-five years! She holds several educational degrees and certifications that impact the manner of her presentation in all of her classes! She began her nursing education with a BSN and later on, she added the MSN. During that time, she also realized that she has a passion for both teaching and mentoring others, in addition to writing! Along those same lines, she realized that she also holds a strong interest in Health Policy and Politics, BioEthics, and Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Practice! Concerning the latter, she earned her Psyhiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner credentials! As she studies, she chose to focus her passions on being a professor, as well, and so she earned her Ph.D. at the University of Virginia, simultaneously adding a Master's Degree in BioEthics while there. During that time, she began teaching and mentoring students at the university level, and she also completed a two-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Virginia. Her research and academic interests currently involve the concepts of trust and justice among all human beings, strategies for positive change in nursing and healthcare, and mutually respectful online learning development strategies for individuals and healthcare professionals. She maintains her original interests in human adaptation in those who have survived war and resettlement after being refugeed.
