Dr. Douglas Turner brings more than 34 years of nursing experience to his role as a Collaborating Faculty member at Walden University that includes practice as a pulmonary clinical nurse specialist and certified registered nurse anesthetist. For the past 21 years, Dr. Turner has served in a variety of roles in higher education, including as a tenured, full professor of nursing, program coordinators, chair of health and human services, and director and dean of nursing. Dr. Turner's primary teaching focus at Walden focuses on nursing education and his research interests center around ways to encourage development of the affective domain of learning in pre and post licensure nursing students.
Dr. Turner has served as an item-writer for the National League for Nursing's Certified Nurse Educator examination and currently serves as a site visitor for the Commission on Nursing Education Accreditation.
