Dr. Derek Schroll has been a faculty member with Walden University since 2008 and has taught in a variety of programs for the Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership. Dr. Schroll currently serves as a lead contributing faculty member, course lead, instructor, and dissertation mentor in the Walden’s Doctor of Education program with a specialization in Special Education. He also earned Walden’s Faculty of Excellence award for the Richard W. Riley College of Education and Leadership in 2018.

Dr. Schroll started his educational career in 1998 as a special educator working with students in a Kindergarten through 5th grade self-contained classroom and was named the first year teacher of the year for the state of North Carolina. He continued to serve for several years as a special educator before becoming a technology coordinator in a public school system. He was a National Board Certified Teacher and has degrees in special education, a Master’s in Education, an add on certification for Administrative Leadership, and a Doctorate in Teacher Leadership.
