College of Health Sciences
I have been a nurse educator for over 15 years. With a background in medical-surgical nursing, I have also worked as a staff nurse, hemodialysis charge nurse, professional school nurse, medical-surgical director of nursing, and aided in the development of curriculum for various nursing programs; while serving as the director of licensed vocational nursing programs. I am currently employed full-time at Prairie View A&M University; my BSN alma mater, as the MSN Program Coordinator of the Nurse Administration Program.
I began my teaching career in an associate degree nursing program, where I found myself teaching throughout the nursing curriculum. From there, I went onto a challenging role as a nursing director, while completing my PhD in Nursing Science from Texas Woman’s University, Health Science Center Houston in 2008. I received my Post Doctorate Certificate in Nursing Leadership and Administration from The University of Texas-Health Science Center- Houston Campus. I have held the Certified Nurse Educator Credential since 2007, and my next career goal at this point is to obtain the Nurse Executive Certification offered through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
