Dr. Debbie Rice is the coordinator for the DSW program in the Barbara Solomon School of Social Work and Human Services at Walden University. She has both a Ph.D. and master’s degree in social work from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Rice incorporates material from 28 years as a clinical social worker with families and children including almost 16 years as the founding Executive Director of a family service organization into classroom and residency discussions. Dr. Rice remains active in the community by training, directing, and developing curricula for a national transformative campaign designed to reduce all forms of poverty through building relationships across race and class lines. She also serves as a consultant to rural communities addressing family violence and advises church personnel on individual and community development strategies. Dr. Rice previously taught social work at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, the University of South Carolina, and Mars Hill College.
