Dr. Dawn DiMarzo received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in both Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education with a Concentration in Language Arts at Rhode Island College. She received her Doctorate of Education in Child and Youth Studies with an emphasis in Curriculum Instruction from Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
Dr. DiMarzo has experienced many diverse experiences throughout her 30+ year career. Dr. DiMarzo was involved in the opening of a Community Center for both Seniors and Children in Providence, Rhode Island. This was an Intergenerational Social Services Center and the entire community became involved in its success. Dr. DiMarzo also taught in Public and Private schools, directed a Child Care Center from its inception, and was a Coordinator for a local Social Service Agency in which she was directly involved in assisting first generation women to begin taking college classes in Child Development. For the last 10 years, she’s been a Professor and a Professional Growth Advisor at the College level in California, and also serves as a Student Advisor who works with college students in outreach projects throughout the city in an effort to help children and families in need. Dr. DiMarzo teaches both on-ground and online courses and is passionate about teaching students in her role at Walden University. Dr. DiMarzo research interests are in higher education and what constitutes a positive environment.
Dr. DiMarzo resides in San Diego, California and enjoys visiting with family in Rhode Island and traveling throughout California. She is active with the Child Development agencies, ASCD and NAEYC.
