Dr. Dawn Broers is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. She has over 22 years of direct experience in mental health, private practice, and school social work. She has taught both adjunct and as a full-time traditional instructor in counseling and social work for 18 years and is currently a contributing faculty in Walden's Master's of Social Work program.
Dr. Broers obtained her PhD in Social Work, with a focus on Policy Practice at Walden University. Her research interests are in policy practice among social workers, trauma, and homelessness.
Besides teaching, Dr. Broers is the Founder and Executive Director of a grassroots nonprofit Fortitude Community Outreach. Fortitude serves the homeless in her community by offering outreach and shelter. She also maintains a private practice. Dr. Broers recently published a social work text with an online video module companion titled "Social Work Policy Practice in Action: Views from the Field".
