Dr. Chinaro Kennedy has been a public health practitioner for the past 30 years. With training in Infectious Disease Epidemiology from Yale University and Columbia University, where she earned her Master of Public Health and Doctor of Public Health degrees respectively, Dr. Kennedy has been at the forefront of clinical and environmental public health practice. She has authored several peer-reviewed scientific articles and has given numerous scientific presentations both nationally and internationally. Her professional career in public health began in 1993 with the New York City Department of Health, (NYC DOH) Bureau of Tuberculosis Control where she served as a Public Health Epidemiologist. Following her tenure with the NYC DOH, Dr. Kennedy served as Project Director on several NIH and CDC-funded projects at Columbia University and Montefiore Medical Center, in New York City. In 1995 Dr. Kennedy was awarded an NIH Junior Investigators Award which afforded her the opportunity to travel to Durban South Africa to embark upon a clinical trial to examine the effect of vitamin A supplementation on the morbidity and mortality among third-trimester HIV-infected pregnant women. Her efforts in the conduct of both national and international studies were further awarded when she became junior faculty at the Mailman School of Public Health Columbia University in 2000. Currently, Dr. Kennedy serves as a contributing faculty in Walden University School of Health Sciences, Public Health Program, a role she has served in since 2004.
