Dr. Benson is a licensed psychologist in the State of Florida. She has extensive experience in both psychotherapy and psychological testing, including educational, neurological, and forensic evaluations. Her patients range from 4 to 90 years in age, with an array of identified concerns.
Dr. Benson earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She completed her clinical internship with the Federal Bureau of Prisons where she worked with incarcerated men and women with serious mental illness. Prior to this, she completed formal trainings at the Family Violence Program, the Miami VA Healthcare System, and the Miami Federal Detention Center.
Dr. Benson began working in private practice in 2012 as a Master’s level clinician. She began her own clinical practice in South Florida in 2016 and relocated to the Tampa Bay area in 2017. Unique to her practice, Dr. Benson has a specialized background in Forensic and Police Psychology, including Critical Incident Stress Management, Critical Response training, hostage negotiation trainings, and Fitness for Duty evaluations.
Dr. Benson has taught and supervised doctoral candidates at Nova Southeastern University and Walden University. She has been with Walden since 2017 serving on dissertation committees and teaching graduate-level, psychology courses.
