Barbara E. Barrett received her Ph.D. in Relational Therapy at Nova Southeartern University in March 2017, a Doctorate in Nursing practice – D.N.P. at the University Of Miami in December 2011, and a Master of Science/Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner – M.S.N./A.R.N.P. at Florida International University in 2001. She currently serves as a Core Faculty in the College of Nursing at Walden University.
Dr. Barrett’s academic experience includes both administrative and faculty roles. She teaches or has taught introductory and advanced doctoral level courses at Walden University. She has also taught Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at all levels, Leadership, Business in Nursing, Nursing Concepts, Health Care Trends in Nursing, Introduction to Nursing, Professional Nursing, and Nursing Practicum at various universities. Dr.Barrett has served as an academic consultant for higher education institutions. She is a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing mental health and wellness services in her community.
Dr. Barrett’s research interests involve assisting vulnerable populations in day to day living, especially in the area of transitioning through life. She has been involved in several researches opportunities involving foster care, autism, and nursing care/education. She has a number of publications and presentations on mental health and wellness related research projects.
